LOGITECH S 150 1.2 WATTS 2.0 DIGITAL USB SPEAKER REVIEW FULL
Enjoy rich, full digital sound from the convenience of the USB port with Logitech's S-150 2.0 stereo speaker system featuring contemporary gloss design detail with convenient push-button media controls. Pull the strap out and you’re good to go, although you may not want to haul this speaker too far.Sleek design and powerful digital audio performance. Ultimate Ears included a handy, built-in carrying strap (which I actually missed, mistaking it for a piece of trim). It’s 13 pounds - you’re not going to be sticking this in a pocket.

The downside of the big battery and array of drivers is that the HYPERBOOM is big and heavy, especially for a portable speaker. When you do finally drain the battery, it takes around three hours to fully charge using the included power adapter. However, 24 hours as a starting point is setting the bar pretty high. And if you use it as a power bank for smartphones, that takes a toll on battery life as well. The same thing if you’re using it outdoors in cold temperatures. Crank the volume up and you can expect that to go down considerably. Different factors will affect that, of course. Not for a portable speaker in this price range.Ģ4 hour of battery life is pretty impressive in a portable speaker. As a result, music can lack some of the detail you hear on systems that include support.

Ultimate EarsĪlthough the HYPERBOOM is equipped with Bluetooth 5.0, it doesn’t support advanced codecs like aptX and AAC. The BOOM mobile app offers enhanced functionality including an EQ for customized audio. You can also use the app to connect the HYPERBOOM to other BOOM series speakers for PARTYUP multi-speaker playback. If you want to tweak the audio yourself, the BOOM mobile app includes presets and the ability manually adjust and save 5-band EQ settings. I could feel the rumble from my chair, eight feet away. When John Entwistle’s bass kicked in at the 1:05 mark, the entire ottoman the speaker was sitting on began to resonate. I was playing the Who’s “Baba O’Riley” in my office at about 50% volume. The bass - always a standout feature on Ultimate Ears speakers - is truly impressive on the HYPERBOOM. Other single-speaker sound systems I’ve evaluated can pull off this trick, but they cost considerably more than the HYPERBOOM’s $399.99 price tag. With the speaker positioned edge-on, the audio sounded convincingly like it was coming from stereo speakers instead of a single box. Cymbals have just the right brightness, while vocals are clear. Listening to it (streaming from my iPhone), the bass has thump, and the drums have kick. The Eagles’ “Hotel California” is an example of a song that sounds fantastic on the HYPERBOOM.

HYPERBOOM driver placement shows why the speaker sounds so good, and why listening "edge on delivers. There’s plenty of volume for use outdoors or a large-size room. That audio can give a realistic impression of depth and stereo imaging. However, positioned correctly (edge on, instead of a flat edge facing a wall or listeners), the drivers are able to disperse sound in a 270-degree arc. The driver placement doesn’t offer the virtual 360-degree audio Ultimate Ears’ other speakers deliver. Throw in the adaptive EQ, and this is a very capable speaker. The driver setup - two each of 4.5-inch woofers, 1-inch tweeters and 5.5 x 7.5-inch passive radiators - is superior to the full-range drivers typically found in portable speakers. That translates to up to 100 decibels of power. Ultimate Ears says the new speaker delivers “three times the loudness and over six times the bass of MEGABOOM 3.” The audio output of the HYPERBOOM was outstanding.
Brad MoonĪnother game changer? There’s a microphone bump on the top of the speaker, but it isn’t for voice control. HYPERBOOM beside MEGABLAST, retains the prominent volume buttons and cloth speaker cover.
